Have you signed up as  a Dividend yet?  In order to volunteer at the school, you must register as a Dividend with SCPS. Everyone has to re-register every year. No adult can volunteer with the band unless their name is on the "cleared" list provided by the county.  Register here.

Our students at FSU Leadership Camp: Four of our students attended FSU's Leadership Camp from July 11-16. An intense week of long days dedicated to the development of leadership skills, and for Kyra and Rachel, conducting skills. We appreciate the effort by all four participants, and are confident that their experience will enrich the Marching Rams. Read Rachel's account of the week.

Superstars. Did you catch the Marionettes on the cover of Lake Mary Life magazine? Here they are -- the article is on pages 50-51. National Champions!!

Principal's Award: Congratulations to Dr. Sonia Bhatia for being one of the recipients of  the LMHS Principal's Award for 2009-2010. In addition to editing the band's newsletter last year and taking  photo/video of the band, Dr. Bhatia gave her time to Challenge Day, Drama and Chorus. At the annual Dividend Recognition Brunch, Dr. Bhatia was recognized for completing 5000 hours of service. She was also awarded the national Jefferson Award for Public Service  for the second year in a row. Congratulations to Dr. Bhatia, and we look forward to her continued support of the band! Drumline as Guest Artists in Drama's summer production of Much Ado About Nothing: Four members of our drumline helped raise the energy level for an opening scene in the play -- Ryan, Sameer, Jake and Michael. Maybe this is the beginning of cross-department Ram synergy!

More supplies for the band: We passed the hat at the spring concert to collect money for a new shade tent, and were able to buy TWO new ones. With the remaining funds we've bought  three 60 qt coolers with wheels and handles, and our band co-presidents donated two additional ones. That bring us to a grand total of five new coolers. (We provide a bottle of water to the band at the start of every game and at the third-quarter break. Plus water to the visiting band.)  Thanks to everyone who pitched in to keep our Marching Rams shaded and hydrated!

Find out here - from Stetson's Double Reed Workshop in June. Our entire double reed section was at this camp -- Daniel, Sameer, Will, Iain and even incoming freshman Savannah. Irish Tune from County Derry too. Go LM Double Reeds!
